    It finds the moments

A language model reads the full transcript twice: first to list every moment with a hook, then as an editor that scores, trims and titles the strongest.

Edited like an editor wouldWithout the editor

  • Follows the speaker. The vertical crop tracks whoever is talking and switches with every camera cut. Slides and on-screen text stay whole.

  • Word-timed captions. Each clip is transcribed again on its own, so every word is highlighted as it is spoken.

  • Directed by a prompt. Say what to look for in plain words, per client or per video: a brand, a person, a topic, or what to leave out.

  • Dead air removed. Silent pauses are trimmed on frame boundaries, so clips keep their pace without sounding chopped.

  • A brand kit per client. Caption font, colours, logo and headline style are saved per workspace and applied to every render.

  • Your choice of model. Claude, Gemini, or a local model through Ollama. Bring your own key and switch at any time.

QuestionsAnswered plainly

What is Cutroom?

The workspace for clipping agencies and freelance clippers. Each client gets their own brand kit and clipping strategy; Cutroom finds the strongest moments in their videos, cuts them to captioned vertical clips, and collects the client’s sign-off.

How is it different from other AI clipping tools?

Most are built for one creator clipping their own channel, priced by the minute of video. Cutroom is built around clients: a workspace and brand kit for each, a review link they answer in the browser, and invoicing for the month. It runs on your own model key, so an hour of video costs cents, not credits.

What does it cost to run?

The only running cost is the language model that picks the clips: about one cent per hour of video on Claude Haiku or Gemini’s free tier, and around 40 cents on Claude Opus.

Which AI picks the clips?

Your choice: Claude (Opus, Sonnet or Haiku), Gemini, or a local model through Ollama. Bring your own key and switch at any time in Settings.

How long does one video take?

For an hour-long episode, a few minutes to find the moments and about two minutes to render each clip on Apple silicon. Five clips take roughly twenty minutes, all in the background.

What do I need to run it?

macOS 26 or later; Apple silicon is recommended. Transcription runs locally, so there is no server to host and no GPU to rent.

Can I change a clip before it goes out?

Yes. Edit any title or description, or describe the change, such as “punchier headline, end three seconds earlier”. You can also apply one change to every clip from a video, or ask for more clips. Nothing is published until you say so.

Does it handle screen recordings and slides?

Yes. When the vertical crop would cut through on-screen text, such as a slide or a screen share, Cutroom shows the full frame instead. If the video already has captions, it doesn’t add a second set.

How does client sign-off work?

Approve the clips you like, then send a review link. It opens in any browser with no account, and the client approves each clip or asks for a change. Answers show up on the clip in Cutroom, and the month’s approved work can be invoiced through Stripe.

Where are my videos and keys stored?

Locally. Videos and clips are saved to your Movies folder, and API keys are kept in a file only your account can read. Clips are uploaded only when you send a review link or publish.
